Interaction between two Fuzzy Spheres
We have calculated interactions between two fuzzy spheres in 3 dimension. It depends on the distance r between the spheres and the radii ρ1, ρ2. There is no force between the spheres when they are far from each other (long distance case). We have also studied the interaction for r = 0 case. We find that an attractive force exists between two fuzzy sphere surfaces.
متن کاملInteraction potential between two spheres mediated by excluded volume polymers.
The interaction between two spheres in a solution of nonadsorbing polymers, with excluded volume interaction, is calculated from the depletion layers around the spheres using the generalized Gibbs adsorption equation. By combining the bulk correlation length with the curvature-dependent interfacial tension between a sphere and the surrounding polymer solution [Hanke, Eisenriegler, and Dietrich,...
متن کاملDynamical Interactions Between Two Uniformly Magnetized Spheres
Studies of the two-dimensional motion of a magnet sphere in the presence of a second, fixed sphere provide a convenient venue for exploring magnet–magnet interactions, inertia, friction, and rich nonlinear dynamical behavior. These studies exploit the equivalence of these magnetic interactions to the interactions between two equivalent point dipoles. We show that magnet–magnet friction plays a ...
متن کاملExact Casimir Interaction Between Semitransparent Spheres and Cylinders
A multiple scattering formulation is used to calculate the force, arising from fluctuating scalar fields, between distinct bodies described by δ-function potentials, so-called semitransparent bodies. (In the limit of strong coupling, a semitransparent boundary becomes a Dirichlet one.) We obtain expressions for the Casimir energies between disjoint parallel semitransparent cylinders and between...
متن کاملInteraction between like-charged colloidal spheres in electrolyte solutions.
How colloidal particles interact with each other is one of the key issues that determines our ability to interpret experimental results for phase transitions in colloidal dispersions and our ability to apply colloid science to various industrial processes. The long-accepted theories for answering this question have been challenged by results from recent experiments. Herein we show from Monte-Ca...
